The Fiero Revival: The Sum Of Many Months Of Detailed Labor

Watching how far Ronnie Finger has come with this Pontiac Fiero is amazing mainly because, in all seriousness, this guy isn’t a car guy. This isn’t somebody flexing knowledge and skill on YouTube or sharing what they know with the world. This dude is a tinkerer, for sure, but the only reason he’s restoring one of GM’s mid-engined 1980s machines is because he wanted one since childhood. And from the moment he dredged this one out from it’s two-decade napping spot until now, he’s been diving in deep to get it back on the road. And it’s not just a matter of pouring gas down the throttle body and hoping for the best, either…this guy does full rebuilds on every little part he touches. It’s the “eat the elephant one bite at a time” mentality for the non-car geek. And it works.

We first found the project about this time last year, when he had just dragged it out of the Texas woods and back to his shop. Since then, it’s been a constant push, from cleaning the CDC-worthy interior out to getting the hidden headlights to operate properly. Most recently, he’s been at work getting the entire rear subframe, suspension and engine put back together so that the car can hit the road safely and legally…it is Texas, after all, and last I checked the state still requires vehicle inspections before you can get current plates. Check out the work below:
