The Other Side Of The Coin: Day Of Destruction At Beech Ridge

Yesterday Lohnes showed you some of the awesome racing that can actually happen at a spectator drags event. Often, the images of these deals involves idiots in beaters working with bump-to-pass rules that nobody really agreed on prior to the fun and people getting pissed off and beating each other senseless in the process. But there seems to be a strong contingent of racers who take spectator drags seriously, who actually try to race cleanly and strongly, and those people rule.

These aren’t those people. This is the other side of the show. This isn’t even spectator drags, this is the Day of Destruction at beech Ridge. What does that translate to? In short terms, Jackass with an exhaust note. It’s absolutely stupid fun, it’s a lot of crunching metal, it’s a virtually guaranteed rollover and it looks like it would be a blast to participate in…so long as you brought the right car to play in. What would you bring to give a gladiator’s death to? It seems like GM W-bodies like Impalas and Regals are favored, as are anything with a V8 and enough rust to be worthy of death and anything that runs well but nobody gives a rat’s ass about, like a Dodge Stratus. Would you weep if one got crunched out on the oval track after being “helped” over a jump by a Chevy truck? No, you wouldn’t. So just sit back and have some cheap entertainment courtesy of some “don’t try this at home” types!
