The Parting Shift: Doing the Eighth Mile Boogie in a Gear Jamming 1978 Malibu

The Parting Shift: Doing the Eighth Mile Boogie in a Gear Jamming 1978 Malibu

Just when you thought it was safe to go outside, we’re back with the Parting Shift. This week we take you to the lush greenery of Boiling Springs, PA and Quarter Aces Drag-o-Way. This is a homey little eighth mile strip and the car we’re going down it in, is 100% BangShift approved! A 1978 Chevy Malibu with a 383ci small block Chevy that is backed by a Liberty/G-Force/or Jerico transmission of the clutchless variety.

The driver is claimed to be a 17-year old kid which is cool because he really knows how to work the shifter handle. He nails the shift points just about dead nuts on. We didn’t hear the motor hit the rev limited once and his hand was moving as the shift light came on. The six second eighth mile ET works out to be a low 10-second quarter mile shot.

We want one!

    Brian: The approximate conversion from 1/4 to 1/8 mile is a 6.60 is a 9.90, so a 6.54 put him roughly around a 9.80:)

wow. That is about how I remember them.. nice to see the roll cage..and that camera makes it look like a ricer sized interior. The malibu is bigger than appears in the lense.
