This 1947 Cadillac Sedannette Drag Car Is Powered By A Cummins Diesel And It Goes 11s! (Video)

Oh you Swedes…ya beautiful bastards, I love you guys even more after laying our eyes on this magnificent creation. Actually, I have to back up a second because I had no idea this car existed before finding it totally by accident on YouTube. It was shocking to learn that the big Caddy has been terrorizing European drag strips for years and I had no idea it was stalking the Earth like some giant diesel powered drag Yeti. The car is fantastic looking with its slammed appearance, big single exhaust stack jutting up through the hood, and long single wheelie bar hanging far off the back of the classic body.

There’s got to be some fiberglass panels involved in the body here. It looks like the rear fenders are ‘glass due to the fact that they don’t have the more gentle rise out of the body that the factory ones have. The leading edge is more square than it would be if the Caddy steel was still in place. The nose looks to be one piece so it too may be ‘glass. Information is not all that prevalent on the car, which I’m not complaining about. It could be painted pink and made of paper and I’d still be in love.

Having just spent the weekend in Tulsa at a diesel drag race, seeing this big Caddy really put a smile on my face. The 6BT Cummins powering this car is worked over pretty well as you can tell by the massive column of soot that it launches out of that exhaust stack when the driver is all spooled up and ready to go. Again, we have no information on what exactly has been done, but I can say without a shadow of the doubt that the fuel system has been upgraded to full kill level, there’s a lot more turbo on that thing than stock, and the head has probably been worked as well.

During the video we don’t see the score boards when the car passes through the traps but using the stopwatch on my phone I clocked it as running in the 11-second bracket, which is awesome. If anyone has details on this machine, we’d love to hear them. We want to know what it weighs, what the best ET has been, what the best MPH has been…and why it was built in the first place! We want one!

The car is used to promote a filter company from Sweden that makes filters for heavy equipment, boats, industrial applications, etc. This is certainly an attention getter and I am fully obsessed with it now!

    Hi! I would like to tell you some facts about the car and our company. The body is a 1947 Cadillac serie 61, Sedanette. It`s a 100 percent carbon fiber body, scale 1:1 with some modificatons to the rear fenders to fit the 34,5x17x16 tires on beadlock rims..The chassi is a 25:1E ex. ProMod chassi. The rear end is a 9,5″ Mark Williams, 4,11 ratio that will be a 3,70 in 2014. The transmission is an airshifted 3 speed Lenco with a Bruno Drive and a Bradco 10,5″ converter. The engine is a 12 valve Cummins 6BT, the single turbo is a Turbonetics 64mm,the fuel pump is a 7100 Bosch unit with 13mm elements . The head is modified both at the intake and exhaust side. It revs 5000rpm. The best et so far is 6.50 sec. in 1/8 mile and 10.51 in 1/4 mile. Speed for eightmile is 100mph and in quartermile 118mph. The name of the driver is Mårten Johansson. The car is built both for fun and a nice marketing place for our company, Filterteknik Sweden AB, a distributor for Cummins filtration and a few other manufacturers.     Kool kar but really tired of Diesels. They’re kinda boring now. Not to kill your thunder but they’re over played. It’s getting to be like the whole retro thing……..Boring.
