Ron Covell is one of the most famous metal masters of our time, so when he says that this is a tool you need in your workshop, I believe him. When I saw this video, and the tool in question, I thought of at least 100 times that I could have used this sucker during various project builds. In fact, I thought of a ton of places I’m going to need it when building the projects in the shop right now. This is a pretty simple tool to use, and making it wouldn’t be too difficult either. But what I like most is the fact that you can make easy dies to make sheetmetal bends in almost any radius.
Whether you are working on sheet metal interior panels, a tank like the one Ron shows in the video, or any number of body panels, this is one of those tools that will come in handy more times than we probably realize. Watch the video and you’ll see what we’re talking about.
We also sure hope this is the start of more videos from Ron, as he has a lot to teach us.
I like how he gets right into showing you what’s going on without a bunch of face blabbing like some other guys who would have taken a half hour to explain that. Neat simple idea. There’s not much you can do with metal with bare hands, everything takes some-type tool.
Ron has lots of great metalworking videos that have tons of creative metal fab tricks. As a kid I used to love reading his Prof. Hammer column in my dad’s Street Rodder magazines.
