Juncos, Puerto Rico was founded in 1797 and has a population of about 40,000 people as best my extensive research into the place can find. The extensive research was done while eating an extensive ham sandwich. It was a large sandwich, so I went pretty deep on the fact finding mission. Anyway, at some point between 1797 and a short while ago, some great man built a sand drag racing facility for the people of the community to race on. We’ve not been able to locate any coherent history of the track so we’re not 100% sure when it opened or how long it has operated for but we do know that someone showed up there with a Fox Mustang that looks all the world like an X275 or 10.5- inch tire car.

Obviously drag slicks on a dirt/sand course aren’t really going to cut the mustard so the ‘Stang was equipped with scooper paddle tires! We didn’t see the driver purge nitrous and we don’t hear a blower on the motor as the driver stages and mashes the throttle, but the car sure has some suds. Those big tires start chucking material by the bucket full and the Mustang goes down the course in 4.84 seconds. We’re guessing that this is a 300′ “regulation” sand drags course but again, information on the joint isn’t exactly laying on top of the information pile known as the internet.

I love sand drag racing videos because I have never been to a sand drags event and frankly, I have never seen or heard of guys racing stock chassis style cars like this on the sand. They should think about it if they don’t because this Mustang with the paddle tires is totally freaking awesome. It is throwing sand like 30’ in the air. I watched this video about 30 times. No shame in my game.
