After talking with one of the guys who was at Huckfest this year and now seeing this video, I am pretty sure that BangShift will have to find a way to be there in 2014. How could we miss this? Firstly, it is at beautiful Pismo Beach in California where dune running and mechanical tomfoolery have been the name of the game for decades. Secondly, the trucks that are at the event to participate in the jumping contest are totally flippin’ awesome. From the MotoLife 1966 F100 to the legit monster truck that was out there tearing the sand up, the trucks rule. On top of all that, the event just looks like a blast with more than 20,000 people attending this year, that’s proof positive that it is fun.
What the hell is Huckfest? Well, it started out as a group of guys on the dunes a several years ago just jumping their trucks for fun among themselves and now it has grown into a major league event that (as we told you) draws tens of thousands of people to watch and take part in the revelry. The whole gathering has a kind of Woodstock feel to it with people and trucks rolling around, throwing sand, and enjoying the atmosphere. During the jumping portion of the contest, there is a HUGE safety buffer zone maintained and everything seems to be on the up and up on that front. The dudes from Hoonigan.com, (Ken Block’s site) were there and they shot this killer video that is non-stop fun and action. We gotta get some BS decals on high flying trucks next year!
Whaddya think, would you be interested in coverage of this event next year? Wonder if they’d let us live stream it?
