Ok, we’ve often wondered how the engines that the Aussie guys abuse to the hilt in their burnout contests survive the rev limiter violent that goes on for minutes at a time. It has been an open question as to whether or not engine builders tell people doing this junk that once it leaves the shop, nothing is coming back for free. Well, after watching this video with our jaws on the floor, we have some answers. All the nasty junk that the drivers do to the engines in their cars gets done to them first on the dyno stand!
You’ll see this mondo-blown big block Chevy make a pretty traditional pull through the revs and then settle back to idle. After that, the dyno operator starts moving the handle to and fro to simulate a driver on and off the throttle spinning his car through clouds of smoke at an Aussie “power skid” contest. We’ve never seen anything like it! Sure, we have seen engines run through simulations like they were going around a circle track, but this? This is new levels of awesome and violent. Things start getting good at about 40-seconds and then it just gets full on wild. Even the guy running the dyno seems to be cringing a couple times as he repeatedly wails the throttle and yanks it back.
If you like the sounds of a really, and we mean really, pissed off big block Chevy getting absolutely tooled on, this video is for you. These dudes can build an engine because this particular piece takes licking and keeps on ticking!

Just breaking in the piston-rings… 🙂
now theres an engine builder that has confidence in his work, way to go damo. Hope your as confident with my engine.
First thing to notice that it takes VERY LITTLE throttle blade opening to zing the motor…those that haven’t throttle a blown injected motor really don’t appreciate the pedal control that goes into a good burnout.
Sounds good….dyno brake does a great job of loading engine.
Crank pulley is a little small for my liking but it all depends on what your trying to accomplish.
The other guy you see walking across the shot is the owner of the engine. Now THAT is confidence on behalf of the engine shop doing that in front of him.

And more action…. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJmrh7mLKc0
I like how he gets up and peeks around the corner. “Well, it’s still on the stand, and it hasn’t blown up yet” lol
only way to dyno a burnout engine
