Shelby Cobras are certainly BangShift approved but the most BangShifty of them all were the few rare “Dragon Snakes” built for quarter mile competition. Guys like Bruce Larson made some serious hay in those cars and they were very competitive in their day holding national records in multiple classes that they fit in. We found this video of a modern version of a “Dragon Snake” competing down in Australia and wanted to share it. The high winding 427ci version of a Ford 351 sounds awesome through the pipes and provides enough umph to shove this creation down the track in a pedaling sub 10.50 lap! This thing really looks and sounds the business! Also, there is a still photo of it launching and the tire is biting and wrapped up like a mother!

The vast majority of Cobra replicas are out of their element on a drag strip. Being stiffly sprung, wearing short sidewall tires, and generally being set up for a far different style of racing than the drag strip, you really never see them run deep into the 10s…unless you live in Australia! This is a super nice car and we sure as heck want to go for a ride in it!
