Watch a 1944 Army Video Featuring a 10 Passenger Flat Fender Jeep! Who Knew it Existed?

Watch a 1944 Army Video Featuring a 10 Passenger Flat Fender Jeep! Who Knew it Existed?

Did anyone else know that the Army developed a 10 passenger Jeep during WWII? We certainly did not know anything about this awesome machine before seeing this newsreel video on YouTube. Not many details are given with respect to the engine and any other mechanical upgrades over the stock Jeep which is shown for comparison sake. As the narrator of the video says, the vehicle was developed for shore patrols, which is interesting because when this video was released in 1944, it would seem that the threat to our shores from the Axis powers was limited.

The extended wheelbase of the Jeep is beneficial when shown in the dunes. It blows right past a small Jeep buried in the loose sand. What’s really impressive is the footage of the thing being jumped with a full load of guys on board! They were all holding on to handles or each other because no one was launched out onto the beach!

Does anyone know if they built many of these…or any of these? We’re dying to find out!
