Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina was never the same after Dennis Anderson showed up. The man who brought forth the Grave Digger monster truck into the world and then parlayed that into an international franchise and untold piles of money is still a monster truckin’ maniac at heart. Anderson can often be found beating the living daylights out of his “mega truck” known as the King Sling. Basically a lighter version of a monster truck with tall, tractor tires on it, this thing is build to fly through mud pits, the air, and anything else it encounters. The truck has been made famous not only for its technology and good looks but also for its amazing freestyle shows with Anderson driving. In this video, he takes freestyle to an entirely new level by busting a wheel off the truck and then dominating the course with a freaking trike!
Up until about one minute into this video, all is going according to plan. Anderson is slinging the truck around making dirt and mud fly everywhere. He’s hitting jumps, running through the mud, and basically doing what every gearhead ever wants to do in a truck like this. He’s letting it all hang out. Things take a turn for the weird at that one minute mark when Anderson takes the truck for a huge leap but it lands awkwardly and the driver’s side front wheel comes off. Normally this would be the time where a driver would unstrap, jump out of the truck, and get applause from the fans. Dennis Anderson is so not that guy. Instead he commences to go even MORE nuts with the truck. He pulls huge wheelies, jumps, hits the mud, and he does it for another solid minute all the while dragging the end of the front axle through the dirt! Why can he do this? Becuase in the time it took to do the freestyle, he probably made enough to buy three more trucks.
Two things are abundantly clear after watching this video. One is that Anderson is one of the greatest (if not the greatest) monster truck driver of all time. Two is that the man still clearly loves driving trucks like this, putting on a show, and having fun. He’s not a corporate stiff. Dennis Anderson now is Dennis Anderson 15 years ago…except with a cooler truck and LOTS more money.

Definitely a lunatic… I wonder how bad the straps leave marks when he stuck the axle a couple of times pretty dang hard? There’s getting the job done and then there’s getting the job DONE.
He sold the truck, it’s now in Louisiana under the name “Louisiana Sling” I believe.
