Watch This Explorer Go For Distance (No Rednecks Were Harmed In The Making Of This YouTube Video)

Before the Internet, daydreaming meant that you were staring off into space while your mind was taking a trip to Aruba or something like that. In the Age of Internet, I’m pretty sure that for a majority of BangShifters, it can also include those times on YouTube when the words “car jump” are entered into the search bar. Aside from a lot of the videos we’ve shown here before, rally jumps and a couple of mentally unstable Canadians, most jumps are a few inches off the ground by a few feet in the air. This isn’t one of those videos.

The victim here is a later-1990s Ford Explorer that has been reconfigured to run by remote control. The video starts with the SUV hauling some serious ass up a dirt jump, and then…it just flies. Serious, Dukes of Hazzard-style airtime is achieved. But unlike the General Lee, which never, ever seemed fazed by a jump, the landing is a little bit rougher.

This setup is used for the Moravitz Car Jump, which takes place in Turtle Bay, Wisconsin. As best as I can tell, it’s like the Red Bull Flugtag, except beaters are painted up, fitted with a remote control driving system and driven off the ramp to their deaths. Kind of sadistic, yet kind of appealing.

Cue the Dixie Horn and watch the Soccer Mom Mobile of 1995 bite the dust in grand fashion!
