When I got down to Florida on Wednesday, Chad was stuck getting some sort of cavity search from TSA officials. I had a few hours on my hands so I hit the road and headed down to Redline Motorsports in Deerfield Beach, Florida. You know Redline Motorsports because they’ve been churning out lots of top shelf work over the last several years on Camaros, Corvettes, Cadillacs, and whatever else their customers need or owner Howard Tanner can dream up. I shot a bunch of photos in the shop and I’ll be sharing them next week for your viewing pleasure but today we have some video that we were actually present to see get shot on Wednesday. What you are going to watch is Redline’s house C7 Corvette undergoing dyno testing as they have equipped the car with a Paxton Novi 1500 blower from East Coast Supercharging. We’re not aware of many….ok we actually had not seen one C7 with a huffer in person before laying eyes on this blue beast the other day.
This Corvette is one of the first 100 C7s to roll off the production line in Bowling Green, Kentucky and it was the absolute first of the breed to break into the 10 second zone on the drag strip. The run was made at Palm Beach International Raceway, the car’s manual transmission being bangshifted expertly down the 1320. Howard has been working on tuning the new LT1 engine before the new LT1 engine actually hit the streets. Learning about direct injection and how it responds to tuning changes has been instrumental in the power gains Tanner made with this car in naturally aspirated form.
During the pulls you are about to watch, the blower was making about 7.5 psi and the LT1 engine is 100% stock other than a set of headers. This is a literal bolt on for any C7 Vette and the power it makes is truly impressive. Basically for a day’s work installing the kit you’re going to have a car making 580hp at the tires by 6500 RPM. Remember kids, the car went 10s BEFORE the ECS supercharger kit was bolted to the front of the engine. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, THIS is the golden age of horsepower. We can’t wait to see the results of another visit to the digs with the car wearing this blower.
