Some quick news on this Friday night. Hot Rod Magazine’s Drag Week has sold out for the first time in its history and it did so in a week! This is certainly a testament to the popularity of the event and how far it has come from the humble beginnings of 2005. Having personally been on that 2005 trip and involved in a dinner and beer fueled conversation prior to the finale at US131 in Michigan, 200 entries was the number we all thought would be the limit in order to run the event efficiently. Well, lo and behold 200 dedicated hot rodding lunatics signed on the dotted line this week to participate in Drag Week 2012! Hot Rod is going to manage some sort of waiting list for people who want to have a shot to get in but missed out this week. Undoubtedly there will be drop outs prior to the September, so if you are hot on being part of the madness, shoot the guys at Hot Rod an email.

It flat out rules that there are hundreds of people out there willing to throw both middle fingers up to gas prices, naysayers, keyboard commandos, and everyone who says that it can’t be done. Congrats to you and understand that you have entered yourself into the single greatest total immersion gearhead week of your life.
