A Michigan Family Is Selling A 127 Car Collection This Weekend – Here’s the List Of All The Cars AND The Prices

We’ve often wondered and even asked aloud here more than a couple times about the fate of huge private car collections that are amassed all over the country because (generally speaking) their owners are getting up in years or passing away. We feel like there will be lots more announcements being made like this one over the next 10 years, meaning that someone’s dad or grandfather who has gathered 100+ cars, cared for them and stored them will pass on and the family will be left with the responsibility for all the stuff. In this case, we’re talking about a 127 car grouping that’s just outside of Dearborn, Michigan in the shadow of the famed Ford River Rouge plant. We’re not blaming the family here and part of of thinks that it is cooler to have this stuff spread around to individual owners who may actually get some regular use out of it rather than have it all concentrated in a warehouse under lights, lock, and key. Truth be told, the old man may have had in his will that the collection be sold upon his passing and the proceeds split among family members. Either that or they are going against his will and he’ll haunt them for the rest of their natural born days. One of the other.

Below we have a post that the point man on the sale, Blake Weldon made listing the cars and the asking prices. There’s a massive variety of stuff here and plenty of it has already been earmarked as sold. The good stuff is largely picked but you can at least see what they were asking and what they got for some of the more interesting cars. Cadillac, Lincoln, and Olds made up the three biggest groups within the collection, so the man had good taste. The family sure stands to make a mint if all of it sells this weekend. We’ve also provided a Craigslist link below the list if you want to get in touch with Weldon to see where the sale will be happening ton hang out or buy something!

Here’s the whole list of stuff – what do you think of the prices?

We are selling my Grandfather’s car collection. It’s approximately 127 cars and they are located in Dearborn, MI at two of his warehouses. Both buildings are located right next to the Ford Rouge Plant. I will be showing these vehicles on Saturday’s from 11AM-1PM. If you are an antique car person please feel free to come by or let someone else know. All people are welcome to come. I am including a list of all the cars and the prices attached based on appraisals by 4 different sources. Please message me for the address if interested in coming out. Cars are listed in alphabetical order based on Make. Some of the vehicles have recently been sold but are still in the warehouses for the time being. The vehicles that are sold are clearly marked as SOLD next to the price.

Looks to me like most prices were pretty logical and fair. Some of the 70’s Caddy’s seemed a bit optimistic, but from the pictures most of this stuff looks pretty good

I agree, four different people told him all three ’76 Caddy’s were $90k? I’m thinking typos given the other ’76 Caddy’s are $9k.

Hell of a collection there. Just based on the SOLD count, quite a bit of dollars have already been collected.

Wife and I went to this auction LAST Saturday (10/25) and they said that they would take written offers for car then call winners on Tuesday 10/28 . The 90 or so running cars at this facility were all very nice really. There was quite a crowd @ 9:30 AM when we arrived. 35 non running project cars were at another warehouse and the folks running the auction were going there later in the morning. We didn’t check out the project cars because I don’t need another project..(but if the right project comes along..)

I saw all these cars a couple of years ago. A friend of mine asked me to do him a favor and take a look at some work for a friend of his. These cars were all covered with dust then but the old man (cant recall his name) was so nice and started telling me and my wife stories about the cars. He was so proud of them. I wished we could have helped him. He needed a roadster worked on and we did not have the time to do it. He was very fond of Cadillac’s!
