After crashing the car badly a little more than a week ago, John Andretti was able to bump the Richard Petty Indy 500 entry into the field with only 6 minutes left in last weekend’s traditional “Bump Day” of qualifying. The car will start in the 28th position.
This may give us some incentive to watch the race. It’s a near impossibility that he’ll win the race, but it would be a 100% pipe dream if they didn’t qualify, so at least they are on the starting grid.
It’s certainly a long shot, but we’ll throw a hearty endorsement behind Petty and Andretti.
