For 10 years, Maple Grove Raceway in Reading, PA has been hosting their, “Geezers at the Grove” nostalgia drags and car show and for 10 years the event has been growing. It has definitely reached “destination” status as a race lots of guys put on their schedule to travel to. Between all the awesome iron and the members of drag racing’s historical royalty that show up, this is a premier event. Thankfully our man Joe Grippo was on the scene and on the wall for all the action. 

The Funny Car action was hot and heavy with Pete Gallen notching another win for he and his crew on the Poverty Stricken Vega. That team has been anything but this season, notching more than a half dozen wins at events across the country. Clearly, they have established themselves as the premier nostalgia fuel flopper team on the east side of the Mississippi. If you want to be someone back East, you need to beat Gallen, and very few have managed that feat in 2011.
