Racing Museum Gallery: A Tour Of The Eastern Museum of Motor Racing – Part One

Racing Museum Gallery: A Tour Of The Eastern Museum of Motor Racing – Part One

(Photos by Joe Grippo) – Located in the town of York Springs, Pennsylvania is the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing. This is one of the great treasure collections in all of the country when it comes to vintage race cars, engines, and memorabilia. Our own Joe Grippo hit the museum with a vengance last weekend and has shared the photos with us. We’re going to break them down in a couple of installments and today we’re running the first.

This first gallery is heavy into old school midgets and open wheel dirt track cars, which are really neat for the sheer fact that they are about as complex as a sledgehammer. The midgets with their worked up flathead Fords, small Offy ‘bangers, and other strange engines make for great viewing. You’ll see an open wheel car powered by a Ranger air plane engine in this gallery along with at least one with an old Red Ram Hemi and several with bg block engines both Ford and Chevy. Outside of the cars, there’s a vast array of photos, posters, and other collectible items that the museum has on display. We’re jealous that Joe is local to this place!

    Great stuff!

It makes me think that I spent too much time at the drag strip (Did I say that?!), and not enough time at the dirt ovals (Sadly true).
