The 14th Annual Fall Redneck Rumble: The History Lesson You Didn’t Know You Needed

I might have seen a Diamond T in the flesh before. I couldn’t tell you where or when, but I might have seen one before. Seeing a whole row of them parked next to each other, with those grilles sticking out in unison, was something else. Walking past rows upon rows of pre-1955 sheetmetal and finding myself trying to comprehend just what I’m looking at besides yet another episode of patina and power. I’ve always admitted that I’m weak on knowledge when it’s made before 1955 and the Fall Redneck Rumble is, without a doubt, the lesson you need. The entirety of the Wilson County Fairgrounds was filled with the kind of vehicles that ordinarily, would be considered yard art in the Mid-South region, brought back to life with attitude to spare and a draw that is pretty distinct for the region. Old farm trucks, the leftover bits of Grandpa’s car from just after the war, something someone dragged out of a field…parked next to show-quality builds, restored vintage campers and much more. There’s no B.S. to this show. If there’s class separation or even class judging, I never saw it. Just a bunch of like-minded types enjoying a nice, sunny day out with their machines.
