2019 Nostalgia Drags and Muscle Car Shakedown Photo Coverage: History Roared To Life At GALOT Motorsports Park

(Photos by Benoit Pigeon) – Drag strips are interesting because they all seem to gain identity from the events that they are best known for holding. A place that runs a lot of small tire events? They get kind of stuck with the idea that it’s all they’re good at. Tracks that are really diverse in their schedule do way better and there are few if any as diverse as GALOT Motorsports Park in North Carolina. From the Mad Mule pro mod series to PDRA, pro level testing, and more these guys do it all. They also do nostalgia really well as you’ll see here.

This coverage of the 2019 Nostalgia Drags and Muscle Car Shakedown is awesome. Part car show, part cackle fest, part wheel standing drag strip fun, this is the type of a show that brings everyone in and sends them home with smiles on. To see some of the divine relics of drag racing’s past come to life right in front of you is killer. To see cars that are older than the strip they’re running on is cool as well.

Benoit Pigeon was at the event and did hit normal spectacular job with photos. This is the first of two photo collections we’ll share with you. Enjoy this one and we’ll be back with more tomorrow.

Bruce Larson completed the twin Flathead car after a close friend passed away who began the project. The chassis was a one off NOS frame from the early days. I built the two Flathead blower assembly’s for this monster a long time ago glad to see Bruce is making sweet music with her.
