A Mighty Wind: This 454ci LS Engine Build Is Force Fed By A Fresh 3.0L Whipple Blower

This is nasty. 93 octane pump gas, 931 lb-ft, and 1,035hp all happening at less than 7,000 RPM. It’s a 454ci LS engine with a 3.0L Whipple blower cinched down on the top of it and my goodness is this a beasty package. The crazy part is that it’s not an exotic package by any means. The parts and pieces here are good, really good, but they are not one off or beyond anything you could call and order today. Yesterday we showed you a video with a 500hp 327 that used a mini-blower to make some boost. Today it’s 1,000hp with an LS engine that has a good huffer on it and makes twice the power out of less then 120 more cubic inches. We live in interesting times.

As is the normal case with all the Horsepower Monster channel videos, this build is covered with exacting detail. From the block on up, you’ll know what every component is and why it is being used. You’ll also learn stuff like we did. Stuff like the fact that the RHS uses clips to retain the cam bearings in the block. We didn’t know that coming into this video.

The 3.0L Whipple is mean and this blower has been a terror on the NHRA Factory Stock Showdown cars. Bred from racing, it’s a boost and wind maker of the highest order. This is a great build!
