Over the past 50 years, automobile manufacturers have made a lot of changes to engines in order to make more power, more efficiently, and with fewer exhaust emissions. There are a lot of physical changes that help with this, some minor and some major. One of the minor changes that has come about is changing the temperature at which these engines operate. While 180-200 degrees was once the norm, newer engines run 20-30 degrees hotter on average. This helps with emissions, and in some cases efficiency, but sometimes costs power. But what about the difference between ultra-cold hero dyno temps and actual hot rod temps?
