First EVER: B&M Rock/Race TH400 Is The First Ever Production Trophy Truck/Off Road Racing Transmission

If you have wondered how popular off road racing, rock racing, and anything that flies across the desert or around a short course is getting, this should open your eyes. B&M has launched the first ever, professional grade, 100% bombproof off road racing transmission. Heck, the B&M Rock/Race TH400 is the first ever production Trophy Truck transmission and you can order it now. This thing is built like an anvil and it is rated to handle 900hp along with 900 lb/ft of torque. How do they have the guts to not only claim the power levels but the fact that this will live in an off-road racing environment of abuse? Easy, then built it with the best stuff known to mankind.

A Turbo 400 style transmisison, the unit’s 30.1 SFI certified bell housing is capable of mating up with all Chevrolet 90-degree V8 engines, it’ll bolt to a 4.3L V6, and it will also fit all ranges of the fabled LS engine as well.

B&M is one of the most trusted names in automatic transmission performance, having been one of the original innovators of performance automatics more than 50 years ago. It is awesome to see them doing this in the off-road world, much as they did for drag racing back in the day.

Are you an off-road racer? THIS is your next transmission!

Here’s a load of information from B&M with video and photos below!!

B&M Performance and Off-Road introduces the new Rock/Race GM TH400 Automatic Transmission specifically designed and built for Off-Road competition. The foundation starts with a tough and tested Reid Racing Super Hydra 400 Off-road race case and SFI 30.1 certification bell housing that fits all Chevrolet 90 degree V8’s including early and late LS engines and 4.3L V6 engines. Upgrades include a new super tough 300M (Rockwell Hardness) alloy steel 30 spline input shaft, a new Direct Drum with 34 element sprag and a wide Intermediate band for increased engine braking capability, strength and performance. Other features include a Billet 1045 alloy steel forward hub with bearing, four friction Intermediate clutch pack and a Reid Racing tail housing with roller bearing providing superior support for the 32 spline output shaft. The forward pattern manual valve body has been recalibrated to ensure constant pressure, quick shift response and provides engine braking. The transmission is finished off with a B&M Hi-Tek finned aluminum trans pan which both increases fluid capacity and quickly dissipates heat generated by tough off-road race conditions. Handles up to 900 HP/900 LB/FT.

I noticed at the King of the Hammers race last year, pretty much EVERY 4400-class race vehicle was powered by an LS/TH400 combo.
