When is a valve cover more than a valve cover? When it is a COMP Cams billet valve cover for GM LS engines, that’s when. Way more than just a clean solution to keeping the oil in the engine, these valve covers are designed to meet the needs to high performance enthusiasts and work as an active part of your engine’s performance. They have quality gaskets, a nice and well sealing oil fill port, and a breather location for dry sump systems. There’s internal baffling and provision for a 3/8″ breather vent line but the big deal is that these have a provision to allow you to run a line for valve spring oil squirters! That’s right these valve covers can become an active part of your oiling system and keep your engine alive.
Who would want those oil squirters? Heck, anyone who drives their stuff hard and often, that’s who. We know guys on drag week who run engines where the valve covers are literally filled with oil as they go down the road to keep the springs alive. While that is an extreme example, these covers would go a long way to helping keep springs cool and happy on those long drives from stop to stop on Drag Week, Power Tour or just a long road trip of your choosing.
Here’s the story from COMP Cams.
