Mad Thrash Video: Watch Stevie Fast And Crew Perform A Time Lapse Engine Swap In Three Minutes (70 Real Time)

There’s no messing around at the track when you are a professional level drag racer. The difference between winning races in the NHRA E3 Spark Plugs pro modified category and losing them is very thin and it comes down to crew, heart, dedication, and knowledge. You are going to see all of that displayed here as we’ll watch Steve Jackson and his crew making a complete engine swap in a three minute time lapse that took a brutal 70 minutes at the track. We do not say brutal because it was slow, just the opposite. These are are not at all like a pro stocker or a fuel car for swapping engines. You are going to see a lot of people throwing in to make this happen and boy did they ever.

The race is the Charlotte fall event as we can see the big grandstands of zMax Dragway in a couple of the shots. The NHRA pro mod class made an important transition in 2018 going from three rounds of qualifying and first round on Saturday to four complete rounds of qualifying and four rounds of eliminations on Sunday. At some point during Sunday there is always a “pinch” round where teams have a half hour or so to get their stuff turned around and back into the lanes. Thankfully for Jackson and the boys, it was not this one.

Jackson was trying to avenge his horrible experience at zMax during the Spring race when he piled up his true NHRA legal car and he was forced to covert the famed Shadow 2.0 in mad thrash to legalize it for NHRA competition. The car did well, he won races but just not this one.

Drag racers love the thrash and the proof is shown right here.
