Not all cars are created the same and thank the heavens for that, right? Imagine if we were all just doing the same stuff, using the same parts, and dealing with the same engineering strengths/flaws that the next guy was. As we all know, the OE car manufacturers always have an idea about what’s better and why. They apply those ideas to their cars to stand out, to attract customers, and to maintain their identity in a tough business.
Suspension is one of the areas where the Big Three were wildly different through the 1960s and 1970s. It’s really interesting to see who thought they were doing their customers the best service with their particular design. Chrysler obviously favored the torsion bar design and the other major league manufacturers did not at that point. This means that when you are going to upgrade your classic Chrysler you need to come in with the right approach to get the desired results without just shoveling money out chasing your tail.
