SEMA 2017 Coverage: Trick Flow Has A New Small Block Mopar Head That Chrysler Power Lovers Will Want

We’ve known and been impressed by the guys at Trick Flow for years. After all, they have been developing and releasing killer cylinder heads for multiple applications for as long as anyone can remember and they just keep doing it. This time is the small block Chrysler crowd that is getting the executive treatment with the announcement of the Powerport 190 heads that are designed to bolt to factory blocks and deliver the airflow that you need to make great power. These heads split the difference between other companies 175cc and 215 cc offerings that may skew a little too conservative or perhaps a little too large for applications outside of the racing world.

The Trick Flow big bock Mopar head has been selling like free beer because hot rodders have discovered that it makes great power and does so in a really user friendly way. Engine builders and those looking for max power potential out of the heads will be happy to know that there is plenty of material to work with in terms of porting or modifying in other ways as well.

This has been an interesting project according to the Trick Flow guys and buoyed by the success of the Chrysler big block head and their bech marking of the performance they have rendered out of this baby, they are rightfully excited.

Expect these cylinder heads to hit the shelves of warehouses and speed shops around the third quarter of 2018. Yeah, that’s a little while but getting it right is loads more important than getting it out quick.

    It looks like they’ve pretty well gotten rid of the dogleg in the exhaust – that HAS to help make power! Now if I only had a SBC……….

    well it’s nice to have a choice over the eddy heads and i’am sure the quality will be much better. we can only hope they will follow the big block head and do a big port one as well for the 400+ cid stuff we can only hope!
