The Starting Shift: A Gear Banging Pass in A Clutchless Five Speed Nova!

The Starting Shift: A Gear Banging Pass in A Clutchless Five Speed Nova!

We’re freaking BangShift so we need to start our week with manual transmission violence, damn it! We’re getting back on the horse with a good one here. This is a Chevy Nova driven by a racer named Tony King at a United Manual Transmission Racers meet contested at Edgewater drag strip in Ohio. Tony had the camera set up over his right shoulder and it captures a nice clean run down the quarter mile with him ripping the shift handle through all five gears in true BangShifty fashion!

Have a great weekend and use this video as inspiration for your automotive exploits over the next couple days. If you really want to get into the drag racing spirit, go back to your local strip and either make a couple of rips down the track or populate the grandstands and take in the action.

If you can believe it, there was a UMTR racer at the Ohio Mile meet last weekend. He was running down the course in a top sportsman style Chevy Beretta with a Liberty five speed in and the thing was awesome. He had a great time and we’re hoping he tells his pals to come have some fun as well. We’d love to see a UMTR contingent at the events!

Tach it up, dump the clutch, and watch Tony King get after it for everything his little Nova is worth!
