This is flipping amazing. Watch this little LT engine rip and roar on the dyno at Katech on its way to making 806 naturally aspirated horsepower. Not only does it make the power, it makes it at a hardcore but not totally crazy 7,500 rpm! This is not some 11,000 RPM freakshow, this engine seems (especially when you see the torque it makes) like it would be absolutely awesome in a street car or truck and even better would be the fact that as an NA engine it would not draw much attention like a power adder combination would.
We dig the fact that companies like Katech are so into having these records attached to their brand. It’s a great driver for engineering and development people to have a back and forth with other companies out there. Ultimately the winner is the customer with improved packages, cylinder heads, and the list goes on and on and on.
Think about even 10 years ago. What would an 806hp engine, naturally aspirated, and less than 450ci have looked and sounded like? It basically would have been a competition eliminator engine with a horsepower graph that looked like the Pyrenees mountains and a torque curve that wasn’t. Here we see what refinement and hard work does in the automotive industry. The stuff just keeps getting better.
This video is not just a dyno pull. You get some good background on the engine and the components that help it strain out 806hp on the pump. Unbelievable, but in the world of 2019 hot rodding, what isn’t anymore?!
