This is totally one of the greatest pranks ever pulled in the history of the internet. Travis Okulski is the deputy editor of majorly huge automotive blog site Jalopnik and he was one of the most vocal writers on the original Jeff Gordon Test Drive video that came out last year. In that video, Gordon was dressed up and pranked a dealership salesman on an insane ride in a used Camaro. Whether that one was faked or not, we have never found out but obviously Pepsi and Gordon weren’t all that impressed with Okulski’s take because they plotted and planned their revenge and it has gone viral in a hurry.
The premise is very simple. Unsuspecting Okulski gets into a cab with a kind of rough/backwoods looking guy with a neck tattoo, questionable facial hair, and some weird stories of being in prison. That driver is Jeff Gordon and the cab is a new Chevy Caprice, packing about 400hp and the ability to be thrown around like a rag doll. Anyway, after being creeped out by the weirdo driver, the situation goes real bad for Travis when the cab is pulled over and the driver decided to run from the cops. What happens next is hilarious because Okulski loses his mind. He’s screaming and yelling at the driver, seems to be afraid that the cops are going to shoot them both and genuinely seems to be in fear for his life. It is absolute and amazing revenge for Gordon who hops out of the car at the end and pulls all the makeup off.
From Okulski screaming “SIR….SIR” to his pleas of, “THIS NEVER WORKS….THIS NEVER WORKS!” to his attempts to kick in the center divider, grab his phone, and basically piss himself the whole thing is genius and we give Gordon, Pepsi, and former Jalopnik editor and current Gawker big wheel Ray Wert credit for being in on the joke and playing it up perfectly.
This is legendary prank stuff. We don’t even know where to begin on topping this. Well done Gordon and Pepsi!

As a Ford guy, Gordon has always been “the competition” on Sunday. But, I hafta give him props ……….he sold the shit out of that “convict” role with that mumbling desperation bit……… It looks like settling the score over what was “faked” brought out a sinister, mischievous streak. Loved seeing Travis get his come-uppance!!
