When The FBI Showed Up At The Sponsor’s Office, A NASCAR Team Folded Up Shop

If you thought that your end of week was bad, the guys at Chip Ganassi Racing would have traded it with you in a heartbeat. On Friday the team announced the immediate shuttering of its NASCAR Xfinity team due to the fact that its major sponsor, DC Solar has run into some seemingly serious troubles. The FBI was at DC Solar offices apparently and that is never a really encouraging sign. As bad as we feel for the driver, Ross Chastain, there are a LOT of people, like dozens who have lost their jobs over this and it comes of the heels of another blow for the Xfinity Series.

Roush-Fenway racing announced that they had put an immediate stop on their Xfinity program in order to shift resources to their Monster Energy Cup teams. Tough news for the NASCAR community and while we are sure that some of the most experienced guys will be able to snag a job somewhere, there will be lots of people with dreams lying in pieces after these two operations shuttered up so quickly.

Race cars run on gasoline, alky, or nitromethane it seems but the reality is that they run on money and when that supply is either threatened or diminished, the end result is usually change in a swift and drastic measure as seen here.

Rough stuff.
