Pro Touring Triumph GT6 Build: Building A Full Custom Chassis And Rear Suspension

In the latest episodes of this build the all new chassis gets going and so does the modified Corvette rear suspension. Watch, be inspired, and then it will be time for the front and the engine!

So this project here has been going on for several years, and we kind of dig it, mostly because it is going from restomod to pro-touring machine and we dig the direction. To bring everyone up to speed we decided we are going to throw a bunch of videos at you in order to get caught up closer to where the real fun is beginning. We could have started with the real custom parts, but figured you would want the history and might enjoy all the body repair going on with this one. We dig it and hope you will too.

This is a Triumph GT6, which I think is a super cool-looking little car that’s sort of like a Datsun Z car and the like. The lines are classic, the size is great for having some fun, and it is definitely not something you see every day.

Today, we get started on building the new custom frame for our Triumph GT6 Restomod! Our Triumph is getting a whole new lease on life with over three times the power from factory! This increase comes courtesy of a 5.3L aluminum LS4 V8, a Tremec T5 from a Mustang, and a Dana 36 from a C4 Corvette. Not the collection of “speed parts” you might expect to see, but it’s going to work out well for our needs… that is, after we make a whole new chassis!

In today’s episode, we re-engineer our Triumph’s rear suspension using Corvette parts! A 1985 C4 Corvette Dana 36 is being re-purposed for our use, and with about 6 inches taken out of each side, it fits in nicely. Our goal here was to not have the car look like it has an entirely new rear end… more along the lines of a “sleeper”. To make sure everything was being narrowed enough, we also needed to source some new wheels and tires, and really motivates us seeing them held up on the car! We still need to finalize a few more things in the back, but that will come next time, so make sure to SUBSCRIBE if you haven’t so you won’t miss anything!
