(By Tom Lohnes) – To get a new Ford Bronco Sport right now you’ll need almost $40,000 for a loaded up first edition, which is big bucks for a small vehicle. Actually, make sure to bring up to $10,000 more when you visit the dealership. Seriously.

This may be the first compact crossover to ever receive a large dealer markup like this with the big numbers reserved for performance cars. But with 250 optional horsepower, a real 4WD system, a cooler built in to the back seat, and a bottle opener in the trunk, it is not hard to see why the Broco Sport is selling like crazy and earning this markup from dealers who are playing the supply and demand game. Sure, it isn’t the full-on Bronco that we all want desperately right now, but if you have the funds, it will hold you over until the real one comes out.

If you are one of the lucky souls to get a preorder for the Bronco sport, good for you, because you avoided some major price hikes on this small-but-capable CUV. We have yet to get a press vehicle Bronco Sport, and I personally can’t wait to get my hands on one. This one will be a strong seller for sure, just maybe not the launch edition.
