DOA: GM Cuts Funding For Potentially Awesome Nikola Badger Electric Truck – Can It See The Light Of Day?

DOA: GM Cuts Funding For Potentially Awesome Nikola Badger Electric Truck – Can It See The Light Of Day?

(By Tom Lohnes) – Were you planning to ditch your Hummer EV, Rivian R1T, or Tesla Cybertruck order in favor of the new Nikola Badger electric truck? Well, bad news. GM cut funding for the project.

The Nikola Badger is a 906-horsepower, $95,000 truck that was supposed to be funded by GM and built by Nikola, an electric vehicle startup. The badger should have been on sale right now, but due to manufacturing complications and GM unveiling their own electric truck, the GMC Hummer EV, funds were cut today.

This is a real shame because the Badger was my favorite out of the 4 electrified haulers. This truck was supposed to accelerate to 60 in 2.9 seconds, which is a stupidly quick figure any way you look at it. Inside, the Nikola was supposed to be a more luxurious than the competition, with Quilted leather, a 20.1-inch screen, and a steering. wheel that looks strangely familiar to the Hyundai Sonata. Styling wise, the Badger was between the tough, capable styling of the Hummer EV, and the weird, extraterrestrial look of the Tesla Cybertruck.

It Is really a shame they couldn’t pull through with this, because some companies with names relating to Nikola Tesla have a tendency to become the most valuable car company in only 12 years of production. Maybe they’ll gain funds from elsewhere, but things aren’t looking too bright for the Nikola Badger.

Probably funded until they could get all of Nikola’s knowledge for their new Hummer…then goes from partnership to competition.

Maybe it was too good of a product and potentially a great succes, so they cut it in great GM fashion.

Nah, GM spends billions on a new project and then kills them after 1 or 2 years of production.

Nikola founder and chairman resigned after accusations of fraud and sexual assault on his cousin in the late 90’s. Technology may have been vapor ware relying on others tech that they now can’t get
