(Photos by David Whealon – DWPHOTOS) – The biggest and baddest NTPA pullers in the country all showed up at the North Carolina State Fair recently for their last hook of the 2016 season. Thankfully for us, ace shooter David Whealon was on the grounds to capture the contained fury that is professional level pulling. David’s images are great because when you take the time to actually study them you can see stuff like sidewalls wrinkling, tires churning up the course, and drivers with their feet shoved clear down to the firewall.
There’s a multitude of classes shown here and it gives a great cross section of what you can expect to see at an NTPA pull. Like I always do in these pieces, I’m going to encourage all of you reading this to make a vow to attend a pull next year. The NTPA pulls are right at the top of the food chain but there’s tons of local action around your area. From muscled up diesel pickups to antique farm tractors, you’ll be able to see ’em go to work as hard as they can, sometimes with crazy results!
