‘All cars on a drag tire’. Hello, What about the F.A.S.T. guys, the street rods and a few others on regular road rubber.? I personally don’t want to see the FAST car on DRs….those things haul the mail on bias-ply…!!! I still say the cars needing impound are 7.50 and quicker, but 8.50 it is. I do see some teams making arrangements to stop at shops local to the tracks in order to get more hands on the car before pulling into the racing facility. I don’t know how you’d discourage that.
I think they are just trying to keep the Daily drivers guys from running regular radial and screwing the track up for everyone else. “Drag Tire” is any thing from a bias ply to a drag radial.
New rules are a small bonanza for Hoosier, M/T, Nitto, BFG . . . .
#MulesOnDragRadials
The drag radial rule applies to the daily driver class.
As far as 7.50 or faster, it would only be Larson. No one else has gone faster then 7.50 during drag week.
oops my brain not work, read that as 6.50 not 7.50.
If you do all cars 8.50 and quicker that is a lot of cars and crew to police. Most cars running down to 7.51 do not have a team of folks jumping in unless everything goes fubar. 7.50 and quicker usually need several hands to perform a turn-around – or plenty of time. I see the 7.50 and quicker cars doing prep off-site before entering track grounds – if there is time.
I can agree with that. I just miss read the time originally.
Beam Breakers? Who cares. I think Frei saw one for the first time and freaked out thinking lt was some magic thing that improves your et by a second or something. I really don’t think he’s done a lot of drag racing after listening to him during this years live feed.
Overheard in September 2015 . . . .
“Honest, DF! It’s not a ‘beam breaker’ . . . The wind just caught my ‘5 Time’ front license plate and bent it sideways . . . .”
🙂
Any change to the 1967 motor rule in the gasser class?
Anti-BBF rule repealed!
WTF, my Little Pontiac powered Triumph street car still ends up in unlimited.
Maybe only two of the crazy cars will finish and I will get a distant 3rd, LOL
Bring the tracks north please!!
Yea i agree with you on that. With the way everythings goin they should call everything slower than 8.50 the daily driver class, unlimited 6.50 to 8.50 and the Larson Bailey class ,6.50 and quicker…..thats it 3 classes
