It is with a great deal of pride that we announce Aerospace Components as the newest member of the BangShift family of live streaming event and site sponsors. The Florida based company has been at the forefront of quality and innovation for decades in the hot rodding and drag racing world. As one of the most active supporters of the sport, the Aerospace Components name can be found on the NHRA Excellence In Engineering Award, given out at 12 Mello Yello series events across the country, the company sponsors the winner’s circle at every NMRA, NMCA, and NMCA WEST race, and they are a strong supporting member of the contingency programs in those three series as well.
Kim Kussy, the president and owner of Aerospace Components is as excited as we are. “Aerospace Components has always been a strong supporter of the sportsman/grassroots racers. We are excited to sponsor NHRA and all of the ProMedia racing events in addition to local tracks and many other racing series. We also really enjoy attending many of these events. This gives us a chance to build great relationships with many of the racers, teams and families. We appreciate all of the racers who choose to buy our components. So participating in the contingency program is a way to say THANK YOU for buying Aerospace Components products. We are passionate about what we do in the drag racing industry and look forward to the 2016 season as sponsors for Bangshift.”
The story of the company is fantastic because Aerospace Components didn’t start life as a manufacturer of racing parts. No, they started life as a manufacturer of precision aerospace parts and working on projects for the defense department; even building parts and pieces that would eventually find their way to the International Space Station. As enthusiasts and racers, it became only natural for Kim and Al Kussy to explore the opportunity to expand their business into a market they were naturally passionate for.
“We started out as MIL Certified for military and space station components and nuclear missile guidance systems,” said Kim Kussy. “This gave us an ability to understand the importance of maintaining high quality standards. We have carried all these standards over to the drag racing high performance aftermarket industry. We race what we make! Our parts are designed and built in our 35,000 square foot building here in St. Petersburg, Fl in the USA. As we celebrate our 30th year we continue to be innovative with new ideas. We continue our research and development to bring you new products for the drag racing industry.”
While maintaining the same incredible quality standards they have used throughout their history, Aerospace components has been in business now for 30 years building the highest quality brakes, fuel system components, shifters, vacuum pumps, water pumps, and tons more, right here in the USA.
Company president Kim caught the drag racing bug when her husband and company co-owner Al was building a race car at the Aerospace shop. Having grown up in Michigan, automotive enthusiasm was always part of her life and being that Al was a lifelong drag racing nut, it wasn’t long before the couple were both pounding the race tracks of Florida and beyond.
As everyone out there who reads BangShift knows, we take very seriously the people who we work with. Chad and I have said from moment one that we were only interested in working with companies that produce great products we can recommend to our readers, companies that support the hobby and motorsports that we love, and most of all companies that take pride in seeing their customers do well when their products are put to the test. From personal experience we can say that Kim and Al Kussy spend an incredible amount of time at the race track and they do so happily and excitedly.
Kim added, “Al and I have always had drag racing in our blood. Al was racing at 16 at Milan Dragway in Detroit. Once Aerospace was founded it was only natural to start building cars and testing our components in them. We’ve built over a dozen cars and there is no stopping us now! Our ambition this year is to get our dragster and Mustang back to the local track. Not only will be walking the pits and celebrating in the winner’s circle, you might see us burning rubber going down the strip. You ain’t seen nothing yet!”
So on behalf of Chad and myself please give a big BangShifty welcome to Aerospace Components, the newest member of the BangShift family of sponsors. We’re going to have some fun this year!
