AutoTrader Classics Find: A Neato 1962 Corvette Vintage Road Racer

AutoTrader Classics Find: A Neato 1962 Corvette Vintage Road Racer

We were recently chatting with a buddy about Corvettes. The topic of conversation gravitated to the classic American sports car and which variation of it we’d want to own. That one came in like a hanging curve to a big league power hitter. We’ve always wanted a 1962 ‘Vette with the 360hp fuelie motor, the optional 24-gallon fuel tank, a 4-speed, optional heavy duty brakes and steering, posi-traction, and the hard top (which we would never remove). Then we saw the 1962 Corvette in the photo and changed our mind. We don’t want any 1962 Corvette, we want THIS 1962 Corvette!

This car is awesome because outwardly it has all the appearances (aside from the wide modern rubber, which we aren’t complaining about) of something that would have been raced in the early 1960s at hill climbs, autocross events, and on road courses all over the country. Guys like Mark Donohue cut their teeth driving C1 Corvettes. If Donohue were alive and wildly rich as we suspect he’d be, we’re guessing he would take a shot at buying this car. We’re suckers for that big, flat, near vertical steering wheel.

This car is a vintage racer which the seller claims could be put to the street for noise making and joy riding fun. It is powered by a 375hp 350ci small block, has a 4-speed, Ford 9-inch, roll bar, fuel cell, fire system, and those 15-inch kinda Minilite looking wheels. The car has seen track time at many eastern road courses. We’d love to be next!
