BangShift Question of the Day: What’s The Most Sinister Looking Car?

BangShift Question of the Day: What’s The Most Sinister Looking Car?

Cars have personality, that goes without saying. Some have the personality of fun, like the Beetle we just showed you in the video made by Holley earlier today. Some have a very serious personality like, say, a BMW M3. That’s a car that is pretty well buttoned down and generally means business. How about cars that are evil, mean, and down right sinister? What’s the most sinister looking car of all time?

For our money, the 1959 Buick Electras and LeSabres have this title locked down pretty well. The kicked up front fenders and corresponding headlights give the impression that this is car is really pissed at something. Adding in the huge size and pointed rear fenders, it oozes attitude and seems to snarl at everything else on the road. Sure, they were big cruisers that floated down the road and carried upwardly mobile families down the country’s freshly built highways and byways, but looking at them in today’s context, they’re meanies! Black 1968 Chargers also seem to give off a slightly menacing vibe along with requisite black Lincolns and Cadillacs that were favored by folks employed in business that required corpse transport to marshes, bridge caissons, and other quiet places. Are we going to elaborate on that? Fuggetaboutit!

’59 Buick’s definitely take the title for “Car-Evil” Those things are menacing even in stock form. Put some mild customization on it and it just gets even more evil. Christine had to be made to look evil, the Buicks just are.

Hidden headlights have always added a sinister vibe to most cars. The 68 Pontiac Grand Prix looks like a gangster’s ride. It’s no wonder they used one in “Goodfellas”.

69 Dodge Charger is always good and I always like a 69 Caprice with Hideaways. Another is a 71 or 72 Eldorado. Plenty of them were used for no good and when its in the rearview it keeps ya guessing.

It has to be the 68-69 Dodge Charger all black, not just bullitt but the car, its stance, its persona it is just an evil looking car.

Two evil looking cars come to mind, both Buicks. My dad had a 59 Electra that I called a Chinese Buick when I was about 10. But the REAL evil looker is any Grand National or G N X. They just scream DARTH VADER! I also call them Jiffy Lube cars because of the turbo markings.

For my money it’s gotta be the USAF 1959 Dodge Coronet Memphian Coach (Ambulance / Hearse). Front or back coupled with the coach body that car is just plain bad-ass.

1962 Cadillac Sedan Deville. A friend owned one in high school. Black with a blood red leather interior. Always felt like EVIL rolling down the road blasting Samhain or SOD.
