BangShift Daily Tune Up: Little Stick Nomad – The Super Stocks (1963)

We’ve told you the story of the early 1960s group the Super Stocks before. They were assembled by Gary Usher and had a few flashes of glory before going their separate ways and pretty much all having success in different bands through the 1960s and 1970s. This is another cool tune of their 1963 album Hot Rod Rally that is packed full of awesome automotive musical nuggets.

In this song, the guys are singing happily about their stick shift equipped and hot rodded Nomad that cleans up on the streets and at the drags. That’s right a song about a sleeper Nomad wagon. What’s better than that? Not much in our book. Your head will be bobbing and your foot tapping as you listen to the guys cheerfully rock through this tune. Here’s a great way to kick off your Saturday…especially if you own a sleeper!

The sound effects at the start and thruout the song sound like my MGB – NOT a V8 Nomad. Probably not made by real car guys.

All in all, the music part sounds a lot like something we would have played in my first band (1963-65).
