We featured several cars from the collection of Gary and Pam Beineke in 2009. Gary and Pam have made a name for themselves in the Mopar community by creating so-called, “what if?” cars. Normally they answer the question with respect to the time period of the car they are working with, be it their 1971 Superbird or the cool 1972 GTX they created from Chrysler styling department documents. This car goes in a different direction. This time the Massachusetts couple answers the question, “What if they were allowed to design a ‘new’ modern Charger for Chrysler?”

The whole “new stuff in an old car” theme has been done a lot, and in our opinion, very few cars with that style actually provide something that nicely blends classic styling with modern engineering. We think this car does it better than most.

We say that because the car retains all the awesome styling of the 1971 Charger, adds the modern “metric” Hemi (at 426 ci and with an EFI six-pack no less!), modern suspension, and an updated styling take on the car. The wheel selection totally makes this car. The use of the 17×8 Warriors (ringers for the legendary 1969 Kelsey-Hayes Chrysler “recall” wheels) from Specialty Wheels are dead nuts perfect. They accomodate a larger tire for a more modern look, but retain an authenticity to the original car that is often lost in the wheel selection.
