(Photos by Benoit Pigeon) – It was Dan Ferguson who claimed victory at Darlington Dragway during this Caroling Extreme Pro Mod event. Ferguson was lined up with the legendary Charles Carpenter in the final and it was set to be a heck of a race. Unfortunately Carpenter’s car broker traction, rotated right and made contact with the wall allowing Ferguson to cruise to the victory down the left side of the race track.
The Carolina Extreme Pro Mod series is a really great group cars and is one of many awesome regional groups that have sprung up around the country. The competition is right and it gives people a great venue to compete in. These groups can also be creative with where and how they run. For instance, this race was held as part of an IHRA sportsman national event so they were the headliners of the show.
Darlington Dragway has been in the headlines a lot over the last few weeks with big numbers being thrown down left and right there. The track is in good hands, has been spruced up a ton over the last few years and it is really a nice facility (and a fast one!) these days.
These pro mod headliner series always beat the stale nhra programs.
Hands down, they are the hottest cars on the strip and fans love them.
