A 1953 Willys Aero? You Don’t See These Very Often, But This One Is Pretty Darn Cool!

A 1953 Willys Aero? You Don’t See These Very Often, But This One Is Pretty Darn Cool!

Most everyone knows Willys for either building Jeeps or every cool gasser. But the truth is they built other cars too, like this 1953 Willys Aero that we found for sale on Facebook Marketplace. What’s interesting about this car is the cues it clearly got from other cars of the era. The rear fenders remind us of old Cadillac stuff, and then there is the front end which has some Nash or Kaiser influence or something. Regardless, the lines are pretty cool, especially when you consider that this is a four door. While other countries embrace the wonderful world of more door cars, it seems like us American’s really only like them if they are a station wagon and otherwise only want to play with two door cars. Well, this one is bad ass, or could be, and we’d own it for sure.

Here is all the info from the seller: CLICK HERE TO VISIT THE AD AND BUY IT

Selling a complete 1953 Willy the car is complete with original keys. Needs 2 new tires. Hasn’t started in years might need minor work. Asking 3500 or best offer.

What they don’t tell you is that a 1953 Willys Aero came with either a 4 cylinder, or one of the three 6 cylinder engine combos and that they could be had with a Hydramatic transmission from GM. The wheelbase is 108 inches, and the length is 183. Both happen to be nearly identical to a 1969 Camaro. Weird, but in no way related.

We think this thing could be an awesome family cruiser with an LS or big or small block in it, and that you’d grab a lot of attention driving it around town. It is a pretty straight old car and one that most people will not have seen before. Daring to be different is definitely cool again, so look into this thing.

Those old Willys were awesome, and according to every account I’ve read, the flathead, 4 or 6, was indestructible. Bet a coil, some points (I trust the kids out there know what those are!) and a fresh battery would fire it right up. And unless there’s no floorboards at all, the price is hella’ good! BUY IT

Turn it into a gasser with a blown Hemi and candy blue paint in tribute to the great Stone Woods and Cook team.

My cousin has one of these sitting in his personal junkyard where everything is NOT FOR SALE! Just rotting away in the woods.

His is a 2 door that has a big W at the bottom of the trunk lid and it had emblems that say “aero lark” just above it.

It has a 1969 license plate on it so I’m assuming that’s the last time it was on the road. a shame.
