Rough Start: A Two-For-One Deal – A 429-Powered 1972 Ford LTD And A Parts 1972 Country Squire!

Rough Start: A Two-For-One Deal – A 429-Powered 1972 Ford LTD And A Parts 1972 Country Squire!

The idea behind the Rough Start budget is to get the most for your dollar, right? Ok, then, we have located a deal for you Blue Oval types who can look past Mustangs and see potential in the big cars. We went digging through the Eastern Washington area and came up with a two-for-one offer that is honestly pretty hard to ignore. The main bait is a brown 1972 Ford LTD two-door…it’s powered by a 429 and, thanks to the tell of the green-on-white Washington State license plates, has been owned by the same individual for well over thirty-odd years at least. And while it’s not perfect, it’s nowhere near bad. An afternoon with a buffer will bring out the paint, and a few bucks spent at an interior shop will fix what damage we do see in the interior. Fuel economy isn’t great, but these big Fords have a boulevard cruiser look that somehow has gotten very attractive with age.

That’s one car. Included in the deal is a 1972 Ford Country Squire “parts car”. Seriously, that’s a parts car. East Coast guys, please be sure to not smack yourselves in the forehead too hard on that line. We don’t know for sure what has kept the wagon down, but it wouldn’t be out of the realm of reality that some gas down the carb would get whatever engine is under that hood to sputter to life. We only get the one picture of the car, but I don’t see a bowed-in B-pillar, so game on. Far as we’re concerned, this is a buy one, get one sale. You’ll get two useable Ford project cars and still have enough money to get some work done!

I am really into these kind of big Ford’s lately. Must be because my dad was a Torino/LTD fan back in the early eighties while I was an impressionable youth. I would happily take both any day of the week.

use the galaxie as a parts car to put the wagon back on the road …
    Long Roof’s Rule !!!

There’s actually two pics of the wagon in the ad. Second shows a coil, regulator and test light laying on the hood so apparently an electrical problem. If not for that, I’d go for making the wagon the one. I have little experience with FoMoCos but it’s been my observation over the years that Ford electrics are to cars what Lucas (Prince of Darkness) electrics are to motorcycles.
