Daytona Craigslist Find: Killer 1937 Coupe Jalopy Racer

Daytona Craigslist Find: Killer 1937 Coupe Jalopy Racer

As we continue to tour the Daytona area through the prism of Craigslist in honor of the Daytona 500 this weekend, we’re going to bring you another killer old race car, but this one actually works and runs. It kind of looks like an old baseball bull pen car with a rollcage, and we’re still formulating a guess as to what make of 1937 coupe it is. We do know that we went it though.

This piece is a runner, equipped with a small block Chevy, Powerglide transmission, Winters quick change rear, a straight front axle, and coil over shocks on all four corners. The seller claims that the car would run with vintage race car clubs.

We’re not sure how many of those clubs race on circle tracks a lot, but you can’t tell us that it wouldn’t be a blast to show up to a vintage road racing event and let this baby eat. The ‘Glide, and what we suspect to be super short gearing may be a problem, but they don’t call them “Quick Change” rear ends for nothing.

If we bought this, we’d immediately go hunting for a dirt or clay track to practice on.

It’s ugly, but man it’s our kind of ugly.
