Criagslist Find: A 1976 GMC Van That Is Beyond Description And In Need Of BA Baracus’s Attention

Sadly, only one photo of this in-progress 1976 GMC van exists, but that photo tells us a lot. It tells us that the van has been chopped nine-inches, the rear portion of the roof has been replaced with that from an Olds Vista Cruiser, the front end has been modified to look like….to look like…ok who in the hell knows what that’s supposed to look like? Apparently all of the custom work has been done in steel, which is impressive when you look at the nose of this van because there have to be A LOT of hours sunk into making that. The chin spoiler and giant gaping openings in the nose look like they’d be perfect for sweeping up and sucking zombies in for a gory (second) death. They wouldn’t hit a motor up front though because this baby has been set up for a Chevy big block to be mounted mid-ship behind the driver and the passenger. The seller claims that there are less than 2500 miles on the chassis. Our primary concern would certainly be mileage, too so that’s good to know.

The slot mags and bias-ply looking tires may well have been on this thing since 1976. There’s no indication as to whether or not this is a fresh build or something that a guy started decades ago and it bringing it out of the back of the barn to sell now. The seller wants $4,000 for the van and that may be about $0.50 per hour for all the metal work on it. If we bought it, we’d close up that big picture window/gunner’s door on the side, tub the sweet ba-jeebus out of the rear and then work on figuring out a paint job. Bright orange with a pair of Chevy rally stripes would be a place to start.

Here’s the thing. We’re thinking that a 496 with a set of twins on it, a four link, and a cage inside would start to make this monster kind of neat. Maybe the paint job would need to have a mural with half naked chicks on it, a horse, a wizard, and a moon. That would really seal the deal. Hell, if you are going to do it like this…you need to DO IT.

Too horrible to be cool even if it were fast or would horsepower and paint rescue this thing?

That’s about the only thing that would keep this miscarriage from being totally obscene.

This guy had to be on LSD. And having a bad trip at that. The best thing to do with this thing is pay a salvage yard to take it off your hands.

    Hammered Chevy/GMC vans are Coolsville,man.
An immediate front end redesign/reconstruction is in order!
