We’ve got to thank tipster John Killion for sending the note altering us to the existence of this pretty neat 1980s El Camino/Monte Carlo mash up that results in an extended cab El Camino. BangShift G-Body maven Dave Nutting had nothing good to say about this as it apparently violates the sanctity of the Monte Carlo and El Camino used to make it, but the rest of us around here dig it. The entire passenger compartment of the Monte was retained so you could load four people (five actually) inside with relative comfort and the addition of the bed is literally seamless. It looks as though the job was done to a professional level. There are hundreds of ways that this car could have gone hilljack and turned out badly, but didn’t in our eyes.
The odometer reads 96,000 miles and the current bid for the machine is $1,550 at the time we wrote this. If we had the dough, we’d be in on it. Put some power in it, lower the thing, and you’ve got a practical cruiser that you can haul parts and junk with. Way cooler than any little pickup truck!

Sure looks like a Buick Regal interior, dash/doorpanels and all.
Neat ride.
No, not Regal, Chevrolet. They are similar though.
Well…..it IS unique
El-CaMonte ???
Monte-Camino!
It looks a hell of a lot better than the green Cutlass 4×4 donk thing.
It looks like the Krass&Bernie parts hauler!
A side view only pic would have been nice, there’s only 3/4 pics.
Lift it and make a trar out if it LOL
not bad.. I’d have to see the rear frame before I’d load much into it..
the interior is not buick.. it’s SS
looks clean,, and better than most mini pickup’s
dump a bbc in it and tow a short w/b dragster with it..
Reminds me of an Australian Ute, which I also don’t care for. But what the hell do I know? I liked that ’60 nose on the 90’s crew cab.
Doesn’t look to much like any Aussie ute I’ve ever seen…. why would you not care for Aussie utes?? 2 door sports car with a big assed boot!!
Yes, nicely done!
Dang, wish I’d thought of it first! Wonder why it’s titled as a ’78? It’s definitely a late ’80s Monte Carlo with an El Camino rear clip. Not sure of the dimensions exactly, but I’d bet the frame wasn’t even altered, just the sheet metal. Cool…..
There is actualy a 85 Regal that looks like a GN right here is CT done the same way. Looks like GM did it the body work is so good.
its a GM version of the Subaru Baja which was a whole lot of fail
