Lots of times we find weirdo stuff on eBay and make fun of it, but today that is absolutely not the case. This 1933 Dodge hot rod is so good in so many ways it makes us tear up with joy. The body was modified in the 1950s so the guys selling the car left it alone. The roof chop, bobbed fenders, and the nerf bars have all been in place for close to sixty years. The stance of the car is absolutely awesome and the rake of the chop gives this Dodge a look like a fighter with a furrowed brow. This baby is ready for action!
The car came from Oklahoma and did not have an engine or drivetrain in it when the sellers got it. Doing the cosmically correct thing they located a 1955 Dodge Custom Royal and liberated the engine, transmission, and rear axle then swapped it all into the Dodge. The mill is a little 270ci Hemi so this thing isn’t going to set any drag strip records, but it is really correct (in our opinion) for what guys would have done in the middle 1950s to their own cars. The transmission is the automatic (rebuilt) that came along with the Hemi. The body was repainted in a “1950s style” according to the sellers which we think means that it isn’t overly finished and has some cool roughness to it when you get up close.
The interior was done in red and white naugahyde, an oak dash was added, and that dash was filled with Stuart-Warner gauges. Did we mention that this baby has a beam axle up front. That seals the deal for us. It is one of the coolest cars we have seen in a long, long time. We wouldn’t change a single nut or bolt on the car and it would be on the road constantly all Spring and Summer long, deep into the Fall.
Lots of guys are into building retro-style hot rods these days and lots of them are really cool, but nothing can touch one that is actually from that era and finished like it was from that era with the parts and pieces guys would have used. Yes, there is still a single pot master cylinder on there, 16″ narrow wheels, and suicide doors. Perfection! We’ll be dreaming of this one tonight. Someone hurry up and buy it!

wow! a real hotrod with three pedals and a shifter………………..EXTRA COOL!
Only wish it had 3 pedals, boring automafic. Otherwise car is cool!
That’s my kind of street rod.
Hmm, I dont love it…I dont hate it…lots of stuff to dislike, lots to like…The automatic is lame-o….Points for the little Hemi….Its not for me…deff not for me…
A black plastic CD player in the middle of this car. I will never understand that.
What about that steering wheel, almost as out of place
Very true!! I completely overlooked it.
That, and they set the starting bid at $22,500 !! I agree with Joe and Anonymous, there are details on this thing that need to be looked after, especially if they expect “we covered all the bases”-type dollars for this thing.
I take pleasure in, cause I found just what I was looking for. You have ended my four day long hunt! God Bless you man. Have a nice day. Bye
