If You Want A Nice 1954 Chevy, This Is It – We Know The Car! So Cal Cruiser Perfection Can Be Yours

If You Want A Nice 1954 Chevy, This Is It – We Know The Car! So Cal Cruiser Perfection Can Be Yours

BangShift Contributor Darr Hawthorne, and his son Zak, are always working on cool things. Like their injected old school Model A that is going together right now and will soon grace your screens here on BangShift.com. But of all the fun toys I’ve seen them with, this 1954 Chevy may be my favorite, and now it can be yours. Zak bought this car from the second owner, and it’s been in California since the 1970’s so it’s virtually rust free. The patina is PERFECT on this car, most of the paint is original, and everything has been gone through so you could drive it from here to Timbuktu.

A few months ago Zak and Darr lowered the car with Fatman Fabrications uprights, but not before pulling the entire front suspension and crossmember out and putting all new parts in it after a nice black powder coat job. We’re talking new everything. Out back are a set of Posies Super Slide springs, so it sits just right and rides even better. Steelies with Coker wide whites were chosen for “the look”, but not until they had tried all sorts of combos over at Coker’s So Cal facility. These were the right call, and only have a few months worth of driving on them.

The original 6 cylinder is in the car, and appears to have never left it’s home. With the odometer reading just 68,000 miles, and with the perfect condition of the entire engine and underhood area, this car has another 70k in it easy. It runs bitchin, is an awesome car to cruise, and Zak has been completely torn as to whether to sell this thing or not. But, there are other projects to finish, so he decided to slam it up on eBay and see what happens.

Normally we put up eBay or Craigslist finds and tell you what we think of them based on the ad, but in this case we know the car and know it well. I’d love to own this thing if I had the cheddar, but since I don’t I’m encouraging someone else to pick it up who will love it as much as Zak and Darr do. It’s a cool car and you can’t go wrong with it.

Here’s what I would do with it if it were mine…

Since I’m an air ride freak, I’d get with the guys at Ridetech and put a set of Shockwaves up front and a triangulated 4-link and Shockwaves out back. Then I’d slam a stick in it from the guys at American Powertrain, and add some extra ponies with some parts from Clifford Performance and the help of an old school McCulloch or Paxton Supercharger. I would then insert a lot of right foot and enjoy the hell out of the smoke show. Just saying.

I’m 71 years old. Owned almost the identical car (mine was a DelRay) in 1960. My first car. Was a Junior in High School. I’m in Northern California/San Francisco Bay Area. Wish I was closer. Would love to just touch it. I have several Hot Rods ranging from ’31 to ’75 so my garage is full but I’ve always dreamed of finding another ’54. Hope you get the price you’re asking. A little strong for me but I mean no disrespect. The car is beautiful.
