We’re getting excited to see the old school gassers at the 2011 Holley National Hot Rod Reunion, so excited in fact, we decided to go day dreaming on eBay to find a nose bleedin’, straight axle, hot rod of our own, and boy did we! With a engorged 392 Hemi, topped with a 6-71 blower, and a wild suicide spring/coil over front suspension, this baby fits the bill in spades.
The Moon tank and bumper-less front end hit us right between the eyes, as does the classic flame job. There’s some hidden gems in here too, as the transmission is a Tremec TKO 600, which is a five speed manual job for those of you not hip to the jive. The Hemi measures out to 403ci and has 8.5:1 compression courtesy of Arias custom pistons. Those slugs swing on K1 rods, There’s an Isky roller cam in there, and a Joe Hunt tweaked Vertex Magneto lights the whole mess off. The mill makes 650hp with the blower being under driven, but a simple flip of the pulleys nets you an 6% overdrive and a tire shredding 800hp.
The front suspension and chassis setup is crazy looking, and we love it. The car would corner like a dump truck, and that makes us want it even more.
